Some of you crazy characters like watching films so figured it would be a good idea to start a thread about it. My housemate is a film critic so I get to catch a lot of decent movies. If ya'll got some stuff to reccomend go for it. I'll try and post something every couple of days, old and new.

Came out in 2005 and stars a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It's a neat premise; a film noir set in a high school. So it's got all the noir tropes etc but they're just kids. Directed and Written by Rian Johnson who hasn't really done anything else of note. Good critical praise but flew under the radar.

Human Centipede 2 is an interesting idea. The main character is this guy who saw the first movie and goes "aww yeah I reckon that's a great idea, i'll give that a go". He's not a doctor, has none of the training etc and has to make do with various home made methods to get the job done. Also because the first movie had a 3 person centipede his has to be 12.

By having this character with none of the skill of the first doctor just fucking everything up and going over the top the film offers a pretty clever comment on the nature of sequels and the various systems that totally miss the point of what makes an original movie successful and compelling in the first place. Too bad it got banned here.

Haven't seen this yet but it's been getting fucking excellent reviews. Check it out when it hits the big screen. Really simple premise: 1 swat team, 30 floors, tonnes of bad guys. The SWAT team has to clear each floor and get to the top. Non stop action set pieces which go from running and gunning all the way down to fists and knives with lots of Silat. Sounds stupid but apparently the narrative isn't half bad either.

I really didn't mind The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Mind you i don't think it was as good as the original one.. Still a good movie though :) Plus the girl is kind of cute when she has no clothes on >.>

I was so drunk when I watched this movie but I swear there are parts where you can see what appears to be a sprinkler nozzle spraying the blood.

Just saw a press screening of "The Raid".

FUCKING. MIND. BLOWING.

I was amazed, properly amazed. The choreography is the best i've ever seen and has this incredible mix of fast paced kinetic combos coupled with bone crunching satisfaction. Instant genre classic, will go down as one of the great action films of all time. The narrative is quite decent as well, it's not just a bunch of awesome set pieces hobbled together by a terrible script, it's an actual god damn film.

See the fuck out of this film.

Checked the trailer, looks good, if it's as you say then even better, it's always a little disappointing when you get a movie thats just a series of action sequences cut together with no story at all.

So according to wikipedia is scheduled for a March 23 release, hope Rocky gets it but I doubt it, if it's not Hollywood blockbuster it generally doesn't make it to the screen.
